TIM or a copycat?

Hi all,
I used to follow all the news about KotF and in the end was terribly disappointed.
I moved on to other games and not so long ago I stumbled upon this:
Dead Before Dawn
The creator has a Star Wars derived name "Darth Brush" and apparently is of Turkish origin (was posted on L4DMods.com once, but I cannot find the thread anymore since the mod was released).
As you can read in the link the guy worked on the mod for several years (4), constantly postponing and
hyping it and eventually his PC breaks down and he asks for donations. Sound familiar? You be the judge.
